Terms of Use

Last updated: May 2026

Welcome — and thanks for trying lawnplan. We built this to take the guesswork out of lawn care and to make it easier for you to enjoy a healthier yard. Before you create an account, here's the honest, plain-English version of how it works and what to expect.

What lawnplan is

lawnplan is a helpful guide. We combine general lawn-care best practices, your grass type, your climate zone, and live weather data to suggest what to do and when. We're constantly improving these recommendations based on new research, user feedback, and what we observe in the field — so the advice you see today may evolve over time.

What lawnplan isn't

We're not a substitute for a licensed agronomist, arborist, lawn care professional, or your local extension office. We don't visit your lawn, test your soil, or know everything about your specific conditions. If something seems unusual — disease, pest damage, structural issues — please consult a local pro.

You're in charge

You use lawnplan at your own discretion and risk. You're responsible for:

  • Reading and following the directions on any product you apply (fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, etc.).
  • Following local watering restrictions, ordinances, and HOA rules.
  • Wearing appropriate protective equipment and keeping kids and pets safe.
  • Making sure recommended products are appropriate for your specific lawn, soil, and climate.

lawnplan and its creators are not liable for damage to your lawn, plants, property, pets, health, or anything else that results from following (or not following) the recommendations on this site. By using lawnplan, you accept that all risk associated with lawn care decisions and product applications stays with you.

No guarantees

We don't guarantee any specific outcome — a greener lawn, weed-free turf, pest-free soil, or anything else. Lawns are living, complicated systems affected by many factors outside our view. We don't guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness-for-purpose of any recommendation, product, or piece of information on this site.

Product recommendations are based on general suitability for your grass type and season, not endorsements. We don't manufacture or sell these products, and we make no warranty about their performance, safety, or availability.

Affiliate links

Some product links on lawnplan may be affiliate links. If you buy something through one of those links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We may not — it depends on the product and retailer. Either way, our recommendations are based on what we think actually fits your lawn, not on commission rates.

Your data

We do not sell your data. We don't share your email, ZIP code, or lawn details with third parties for marketing. We use your information only to deliver your personalized lawn plan and to improve the service for everyone. If you contact a service provider through lawnplan, you reach out to them directly — we don't share your contact info on your behalf.

Weather and ZIP-to-location lookups are performed by public APIs (Open-Meteo and Nominatim / OpenStreetMap). Only your ZIP code is sent — never your name, email, or account details.

Service providers

Service providers listed on lawnplan are independent businesses. We don't employ them, vet them deeply, or vouch for the quality of their work. Always verify license, insurance, and reviews before hiring. lawnplan isn't responsible for any agreement, work, or dispute between you and a service provider.

Changes to these terms

lawnplan is constantly evolving. We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll do our best to let you know. By continuing to use the service after a change, you're agreeing to the updated terms.

Plain-English bottom line

We built lawnplan to help — but you're the one with the rake, the spreader, and the hose. Use our advice as a starting point, double-check anything important with a local pro or product label, and enjoy the work. 🌱
